After the successful implementation of the SkyVisual solution, which has increased the traffic capacity at the Geneva ATC centre by 9% in the space of a few months, skyguide
has recently put into operation an additional functionality in Zürich:
Dynamic Airspace Management (DAM) - an automatic map scheduler and
display system for airspace control sectors. This means that
it automatically and instantaneously displays the active sectors on all
radar controller positions simultaneously. This tool gives the
controller an instant and actual overview of the zones active in his
sector. This is particularly important in Switzerland, where military
air activities are significant. DAM shows the evolutionary
capability of SkyVisual, offering new controller functionalities in
Zürich in the near future such as automatic conflict
detection/resolution, direct access to flight plans and modification
from any controller position, and a global traffic vision in exit
windows, among many others. The SkyVisual module, with its associated
data processing software engines, was developed by SkySoft-ATM.
It is based on the ATC system already implemented at Geneva, and has
demonstrated its reliability and stability during traffic peaks over
past years. SkyVisual is now fully ready to integrate the planned
functional enrichments which many air traffic controllers have actively
participated in designing.
